The Role Of Painting In Modern World. Abstract Art.

by author on September 25, 2010

Painting is a way of conveying thoughts and feelings of the artist. The very notion of art means applying the image by paints on any surface. To convey a picture, it is invented a lot of colors: pastel, tempera, gouache, oil – this is only a few of the currently known species. Painting is mostly executed on canvas, paper or wood. It is also widespread painting, executed on the walls or vessels.

The exact time of birth of painting cannot be determined. Originally the drawings were performed by a simple charcoal on the stone; they were made in the form of wavy lines. Later there were more meaningful images in the form of figures of people or animals.

Let us dwell in more detail before an abstract painting. The first abstract painting was recorded in 1910. Pictures pained in the abstract genre have no associations with real objects. Abstract painting has several directions: geometric, lyrical and many others. Advancing civilization, changing directions in art, affects the painting, in the 20 century there was a naturalistic technique of improvement and growth of conventionality in the pictures. Abstract painting is not so much the expression of the artist as the realization of full freedom of thought. In the U.S., abstraction came later, around 1940. The most notable artists of the time were B. Dealer BS, B. Newman, Robert Rauschenberg and others.

In 1950, in France there is a fashionable trend – “lyrical abstraction.” It was derived from J. Mathieu, who in contrast to the classical abstraction, where the idea is embodied in the picture, does on the contrary: paints a picture and then determines its meaning.

American abstraction in the fifties differs by geometrical. The most well-known artists, representing this direction are W. Kooning, B. Newman, R. Rauschenberg.

In the sixties a wave of American abstraction returns to Europe. The first most representative exhibition of American abstract painting is held in France in 1968. It definitely turns the idea of painting, abstraction is gaining ground. At the same time, abstract art becomes less aggressive, minimalism appears. It obtains more rounded shapes.

In the seventies the American painting gets free from the influence of European traditions and returns to figurative art.

In the eighties realism returns in the painting, but still we cannot talk about the disappearance of abstraction, rather, about overcoming the rules and prohibitions in the painting. Abstract painting allows the implementation of cherished images, reflection, balance between redundancy and a lack of another. Abstractionism is essentially an act of self-assertion and the possibility of discovery.

As if painting develops and changes, it always carries a sense of decoration of our world. Painting – it is not only the pictures in the gallery, it surrounds us from all sides. Painting makes a person appreciate and understand the beauty of the surrounding world. It also carries important information; many historical facts would be lost for us without painting. Undoubtedly, there is writing, but painting has appeared much earlier, so the value of painting is so great. Again, there are things that can be passed only through painting.

Today the painting has penetrated so deeply into our life that sometimes we hardly notice it. Computer graphics, body art, nail art, air brush – all this is demonstration of art in the modern world.

In the modern world painting is not so much a way of expression, as a way of earning money or investments.

The current generation lives in conditions of constant stress that is why painting is often used for medicinal purposes. A person expressing his emotions on paper fades over time and as a consequence – calms down.
